The three pro-Khalistan terrorists the Jalandhar (rural) police arrested in Jammu on Monday were planning to launch terror activities to create alarm among a "section of people" in Punjab.
The outfit was allegedly conspiring to disrupt communal harmony in the state, the first information report (FIR) has revealed.
The alleged terrorists are Harpreet Singh, alias Harmeet alias Pintu, from Simbal Camp in Jammu, Paramjit Singh, alias Pamma, from Basti Gobind Puri in Simbal, and Sarwan Singh Shabba from Meera Sahib area of Jammu.
The group was being funded by Ranjit Singh, a native of Simbal Camp in Jammu, who is presently based in Spain.
Sources said the group was in the advanced stage of preparedness for execution of their designs.
The FIR further says the group had also held several meetings at various places in Gurdaspur and Dali village of Jalandhar district from where Harminder Singh Mintu, the KLF chief belongs to.
Police officials said the accused had formed a module along with their associates in Jammu and they were in touch with two Pakistan-based terrorist outfits—Khalistan Zindabad Force (KZF) and Khalistan Liberation Force (KLF).
The three alleged terrorists have also visited Pakistan several times, it has been learnt.
Pamma had also gone to Thailand in the January on a 90-day visa and then returned to Jammu where he was running a travel agency at Satwari Chowk.
Officials claimed that three were influenced with the Khalistan ideology. They were the regular members of these two module for last 14-15 years.
Their main job was to recruit more members and create sleeper cells, they added.
Some senior officials of the Punjab police are in New Delhi holding discussion with the Intelligence Bureau (IB) officials in this connection.
The police on Tuesday produced the three alleged terrorists in a local court and got their remand for nine days.
"We have nine days with us and will extensively interrogate them. Only then, we will be able to say what their plans were and who were their targets in Punjab and elsewhere," an official said.
KZF chief Ranjit Singh Neeta and KLF chief Harminder Singh Mintu funded and coordinated with terrorists based in Spain and the UK, the police claimed.
A police team led by senior superintendent of police (Jalandhar rural) Narinder Bhargav along with CIA officials was camping in Jammu for a couple of days after intelligence inputs.
