Supporting its release, he said it had been made on a real incident and one could not suppress the truth by not allowing the film to be screened. He claimed that the film would expose the "atrocities" committed by the Congress against the Sikhs.

The film recently came to limelight as some BJP leaders urged the government to ban it.
Makkar, who was in town for holding an interim meeting of the SGPC at the local Baba Banda Singh Bahadur Engineering College, also condemned the Maharashtra government for Takht Sri Hazur Sahib Board, Nanded, reducing the number of the SGPC members on the management board.

He said though the membership of the management board had been increased from 17 to 21, by giving more representation to local Sikhs, the Congress-led state government had proved itself anti-Sikh by slashing the representation of the SGPC, Chief Khalsa Dewan and various Singh Sabhas.

Makkar said they had decided to maintain cleanliness at the Golden Temple with the help of devotees and sewadars.

He said the SGPC had distributed Rs. 1 crore to help the victims of the recent communal clashes at Saharanpur in Uttar Pradesh.
