With a view to introducing administrative reforms and setting the pace for recoveries by its main revenue-earning departments, the municipal corporation on Tuesday shifted seven of its officers who had been together in one department for the past many years.

Municipal commissioner DPS Kharbanda said the development was to speed up recoveries, which had not been up to the mark for the past few years. The staff transferred is from the house tax department, which has been overstaffed grossly for years.

Most of the seven officers have been moved to the operation and maintenance (O&M) and other wings of the MC.

The officials concerned of various departments had not been able to meet targets. "The MC hopes transfers will improve things," said Kharbanda.
