Rs 8 lakh ATM heist in Jandiala Guru

An unidentified person decamped with Rs. 8 lakh from the ATM of Punjab National Bank (PNB) in Jandiala Guru, 17 kilometres from Amritsar city.


The police said the incident took place in the wee hours of Thursday and the CCTV footage showed only person committing the crime.

Jasdeep Singh, superintendent of police (SP-D), Amritsar (rural) police, said, “The incident took place at about 2:30 am on Thursday. The CCTV footage available shows that a person wearing mask was cutting the machine. The accused used a gas cutter and it took him only four minutes to decamp with the money.”

The superintendent of police said the ATM was unattended but its outer shutter was closed. The accused first broke the shutter and then cut the machine to steal the money.

The police added that there are chances of the involvement of more people in the crime.
A case has been registered in this connection and investigations are on, the police said.
