Congress candidate from Amritsar Capt Amarinder Singh and Amritsar Central MLA OP Soni on Saturday rubbished the “whispering campaign launched by the BJP and the Shiromani Akali Dal” about the latter’s joining the BJP.

Commenting on the rumours, Amarinder retorted, “This is the classic example of the whispering and disinformation campaign the Akalis and BJP are notorious for”.

In a statement issued here, he pointed out that Soni was with him since the day he landed here on April 28. “In fact my relationship with Soni goes back to several years and he is my trusted colleague”.

Soni also made it clear that he would be the “last man to ever think to leave the Congress and joining any other party.”
