Even though the Lok Sabha polls are a year away, newly inducted state BJP president Kamal Sharma has got into election mode already.

Addressing party workers in the three constituencies falling in Pathankot district, Sharma mainly focused on strengthening the BJP for the Lok Sabha elections.

As per the schedule, Sharma was to address one rally in Pathankot, but the BJP MLAs from Sujanpur and Bhoa persuaded the party president to visit their constituencies. Sujanpur scored over Patankot in terms of the strength of party workers at the rally.

Sharma, who has succeeded in dealing with factionalism in the state BJP by bringing senior party leaders on a single platform, gave due respect to senior BJP leader Master Mohan Lal, who had been sidelined in previous rallies. Master Mohan Lal took active part in all the three rallies in Pathankot, Sujanpur and Bhoa. He has a sizeable following in the Pathankot and Dhar blocks.

Addressing party workers, Sharma said there was no place for factionalism in the party and every worker should be committed to ensure the victory of the party in the Lok Sabha polls. "I am confident that the party will win all the three Lok Sabha seats of Gurdaspur, Amritsar and Hoshiarpur, while the SAD will win the remaining seats," he said.

BJP leaders Swaran Salaria and Vinod Khanna both staked claim to the Gurdaspur Lok Sabha constituency, saying they wanted to serve the people of the area as MP. Khanna, who had remained away from Gurdaspur for almost three years, has started actively participating in all party functions. He cheered the crowd with his favourite film dialogues in Pathankot and Sujanpur.

Sujanpur MLA and Vidhan Sabha deputy speaker Dinesh Singh Babbu said the days of Congress rule at the Centre were numbered, and the people were seeing a better future for the country with the BJP at the helm.

Bhoa MLA Seema Devi, state BJP member SK Punj and Pathankot incharge Arunuesh Shaker attended all the three rallies.
