Tarn Taran cops nab 21 with arms, ammunition, drugs

The Tarn Taran police have arrested 21 persons and recovered three pistols, one of .12-bore and two of 315-bore, two rounds and six cartridges, besides 30 kg of poppy husk, 445 grams of narcotic powder, 40 grams of heroin and 900 habit-forming pills from them.


The police have also booked 67 persons involved in circulation of fake currency, narcotics, arms and ammunition and incidents of robberies and snatchings. While 20 cases have been registered under the NDPS Act, three have been registered under the Arms Act. Raids are on to nab the absconding accused.

Riot victims burn Capt's effigy

Accusing former chief minister and Congress candidate from Amritsar, Capt Amarinder Singh, of giving a 'clean chit' to senior party leader Jagdish Tytler in the 1984 riots case, the All India 84 Riot Victims Relief Committee and Delhi Sikh Gurdwara Management Committee (DSGMC) held a demonstration here on Sunday, wherein they also burnt his effigy.
