Two DSPs clash in Gurdaspur central jail, SSP orders inquiry

A verbal spat between two DSPs took an ugly turn in the Gurdaspur Central Jail in the wee hours of Sunday when both reportedly tried to indulge in a physical combat. An employee of the Central jail who tried to pacify both was injured seriously who was later rushed to the Gurdaspur Civil Hopsital for the treatment. Though no case so far has been registered yet SSP Gurdaspur Sukhwant Singh Gill has marked an inquiry.

The sources in the Jail confirmed the clash at 12 PM of Saturday night between two officers.

Sources stated that both DSP (Jail) Balbir Singh Bisla and DSP (Security) Harbans lal Khanna who have a long time enmity entered into an argument with each other when Bisla pointed out to Khanna about a jail staff found sleeping during the duty hours. Seeing his officers indulging into arguments a jail security superintendent Gulbadan Singh tried to intervene.

Khanna who has his residence in the jail premises immediately called up his sons allegedly and indulged into a scuffle though Bisla escaped with minor injuries Gulbadan Singh sustained injuries who was rushed to the civil hospital for the treatment.

As the news went outside the jail premises about the clash between two DSP level officers a team of Police officials including DSP(Control Room) Balbir Singh, Gurdaspur City SHO Gurdeep Singh, and Addl SHO Mehar Chand reached in the jail premises and could manage the clash and pacified volatile situation.

Though no case was registered at the time of filing of this report SSP Gill claimed that he has asked SP (Headquarter) Salvinder Singh to submit him the report after which the action will be taken against anybody found responsible.

Meanwhile it is learnt that some female inmates of the Gurdaspur Jail has forwarded a letter to the DGP, DC Dr. Abhinav Trikha and SSP Gill and have complained aboout the style of DSP HL Khanna under which he use to misbehave with the kins of the inmates. SSP claimed that he has also sought a report over it.
