The city police have registered a case against a jail inmate after he attempted suicide in the jail premises on Saturday. The undertrial has been identified as Baljit Singh. In a complaint to the police, the jail superintendent said the inmate tried to hang himself with a rope. Baljit was rushed to Guru Nanak Dev Hospital, where his condition is said to be stable. The superintendent said Baljit might have found the rope in the jail factory.

Unplanned divider ruins charm of McLeod Road

Morning walkers in the holy city have lost what was, perhaps, their last remaining favourite road.
