A 35-year-old woman was allegedly murdered by her husband and brother at Dera Baba Nanak here on Tuesday night.

Sources said that on Wednesday morning, a Shehzada village resident found a woman's body lying in a pool of blood in the fields nearby and informed the local police. A team, led by station house officer (SHO) Satpal Singh rushed to the spot.

The SHO said that the victim, Khunde village resident Veero, along with her family members, was working as a labourer in a nearby brick kiln. Veero and her husband, Salil Masih, had strained relations, as he felt she could not be trusted.

Veero's brother Raja Masih, who was also living with her, also objected to her alleged affairs with some other people, and a massive dispute took place between Veero and her family members on Tuesday night, after which Salil and Raja took her to the fields nearby and killed her with a sharp-edged weapon.

Police registered a case under Section 302 of the Indian Penal Code on the statement of Tersem Masih, who was also living in the area. Salil and Raja are absconding.
