Penknife will help him cut deep into the chest of what killed his dream. Punjab Congress president captain Amarinder Singh has written to the candidates of his party from the last state elections, seeking their view on the debacle.
The letter has also gone to district Congress presidents for analysis of the reasons why the party couldn’t take advantage of anti-incumbency and make the government. Amarinder has sought the report in the party office in Chandigarh by March 20.
He will also examine the performance of the youth and women’s wings of the party, and the Congress Seva Dal and other allied units. “You are requested to make a detailed, constituency-wise report of the assembly election results 2012, including the performance of the party. Please, specify the role of the party functionaries and other reasons that influenced the result in your constituency/district,” reads the letter.
The performance of the Congress was below expectation in the latest assembly elections, and second time in the state, the opposition party failed to gain from the anti-incumbency factor.
