Another car snatched on National Highway-1

In a case of highway robbery, unidentified persons sped away after snatching a Verna car on National Highway-1 near Jandiala Guru, here on Monday.

In a case of highway robbery, unidentified persons sped away after snatching a Verna car on National Highway-1 near Jandiala Guru, here on Monday.

The police that went on alert were yet to trace the vehicle, which was reportedly snatched by three persons.

Claiming that various police parties were on the job to trace the car, Amritsar SSP (rural) Jasdeep Singh said, “A persons named Saurabh Deep had come to a nursery to buy plants new Jandiala Guru. As he parked his car outside the nursery, three accused came and snatched the car from him after a brawl. The accused immediately sped away after committing the crime.”

The SSP claimed that the highway patrol vehicle of the police chased the car, but the accused managed to flee.

The police have registered a case at the local Jandiala police station in this regard.

SSP Jasdeep Singh said, “Few days back also a car was snatched but we are on the job to bust this entire gang. Already we have heightened vigil on the highway and additional deployment will be done on the sensitive areas along the National Highway.”

Notably, off late, car snatching has become a major crime in the Amritsar district. Few cars, including Innova and Pajero were snatched on gun point from Amritsar city as well.
