Another newborn found abandoned, in Jamalpur

A newborn girl was found abandoned at a vacant plot in Mohalla Ram Nagar of Bhamiyan of Jamalpur on Thursday. An area resident picked up the girl and rushed her to a private hospital for treatment. The girl is normal now. The police have informed members of Swami Gangan and Ashram Bhuri Waley, Talwandi Dham Trust, who will take her to the orphanage.

The jamalpur police have registered a case under section 317 (exposure and abandonment of child under twelve years, by parent or person having care of it) of the IPC against the unidentified woman.

The case has been registered on the statement of Jai Parkash Paswan of Mohalla Ram Nagar. In his complaint, Paswan stated that he heard the cries of a child from the backside of his house. When he went looking, he was shocked to see a newborn lying there. He immediately rushed the girl to the doctor and sounded the police.

The police reached at the spot and initiated investigations.

ASI Sanjiv Kumar said the police have contacted all hospitals, nursing homes and midwives seeking details of deliveries occurred in the past week.
