With senior citizens in Nawanshahr district living in fear of getting robbed, another incident was reported on Monday when a 75-year-old was found murdered at her residence.

The deceased has been identified as Swaran Kaur, a resident of Sakohpur village, who was living alone.

On August 5, USA-based NRI Jaswinder Singh (60) was also found murdered at his house in Sahlon village which is adjacent to Sakohpur. He had come to meet relatives at his native village and was living alone at home.

As per information available, Kaur, a widow, had three married daughters. Her only son Balwinder Singh is missing for the past five years and a case has been registered with the police.
The incident came to light when a neighbour went to meet Kaur. After finding her house locked from inside, she informed her daughter who called the police.

The cops rushed to the spot and opened the main door after jumping a wall to discover her body which was tied with ropes on the bed and a piece of cloth was stuffed in her mouth. The entire house was ransacked by robbers.

Senior police officials including SSP Sanmit Kaur and SP (D) Dilbagh Singh Pannu rushed to the spot and started investigations. Police officials claim they have some leads in the murder case and the accused will be nabbed soon. They said robbery might be the reason behind the murder.

Meanwhile, a case under various sections has been registered at the Sadar police station. The Nawanshahr police are still to make any headway in the murder case of NRI Jaswinder Singh.
