In another big jolt to the Congress in Jalandhar Lok Sabha constituency , the party’s incharge of Adampur assembly segment Satnam Kainth has resigned from his post. Showing his inability through a letter and an e- mail sent to Congress president Sonia Gandhi and Punjab Pradesh Congress Committee (PPCC) chief Partap Bajwa, Kainth has shown his inability to work as party’s incharge of Adampur segment and campaign for Congress nominee from Jalandhar Chaudhary Santokh Singh.

Kainth, a former Bahujan Samaj Party MP, had contested the 2012 assembly polls on Congress ticket from Adampur and had also lost to Pawan Kumar Tinu by a margin of over 18,000 votes.

Kainth, when contacted, confirmed that he had tendered his resignation as party incharge from Adampur to AICC chief and PPCC president.

When contacted by HT, Kainth said, “The Chaudhary family is capable of handling things everywhere. I don’t want to comment any more”.

The strain in the relationship between Kainth and Chaudhary family is an open secret as Kainth camp attributes his defeat from Adampur assembly seat as a result of non-cooperation from Chaudhary family.

Notably, Santokh’s son, Vikram Chaudhary, who is also Punjab Youth Congress chief, had applied for ticket from Adampur assembly.

Vikram’s cousin Surinder Chaudhary, had also applied for ticket form Adampur in 2012 assembly polls but the party put its weight behind Kainth.
