The anti-narcotic and anti-illicit liquor smuggling wing on Monday claimed to have arrested two persons in separate incidents and recovered around 23 cartons of illicit liquor from their possession, while the third accused managed to flee.
Two separate cases have been registered against the accused.
Divulging details about the arrest, sub-inspector Harbans Singh said following a tip-off, sleuths of the wing had put up a check point at Kailash Chowk late on Sunday, where police stopped two motorcycle-borne persons for frisking.
One of the persons, a pillion, jumped off the motorcycle and managed to flee the scene, while the rider was nabbed, said the sub-inspector, adding that 36 bottles of illicit liquor was from his possession.
The accused has been identified by police as Raj Kumar, alias, Raju, (47) of Raju Colony at Tibba Road, while his accomplice, who managed to flee, is identified by the accused as Mohinder Singh, alias, Kaku, of Banda Bahadur Colony.

After interrogation, police have recovered another 12 cartons of illicit liquor from Raju's residence at Raju Colony.
A case has been registered against both Raju and Mohinder at the Basti Jodhewal police station under various sections of the Excise Act.
In another case, sleuths of the wing arrested Gurpreet Singh (26) of Basti Jodhewal and recovered eight cartons of illicit liquor from his possession on Monday.
