Bharatiya Janata Party’s candidate from Hamirpur Anurag Thakur on Tuesday took out a road show in various parts of the district and met people to seek votes for himself and the party.

During the road show, which started from Thakur’s Samirpur residence and ended here, he was given a rousing reception by party workers and others. He was accompanied by districtlevel leaders of the party and its sister organisations.

Addressing the gathering, Thakur exhorted people to join the mainstream of the BJP and help the nation “get a strong Prime Minister” in Narendra Modi.

He told people that each vote for the BJP would “strengthen the nation and save it from disintegration”, and voting for the Congress would be “one of the biggest mistakes of their life as the Indian polity would vanish forever”.

Addressing mediapersons, Thakur claimed that the party was going to form its government in the Centre this time as people were “fed up with the Congress’ misrule in the Centre and states, especially HP”.
He alleged that the nation was facing the “worst crisis of its existence” as the Congress had “virtually mortgaged the nation into the hands of foreign powers that were running the country through proxy in Sonia Gandhi and Rahul Gandhi”.

Thakur claimed that the book published by Sanjay Baru, former media advisor of PM Manmohan Singh, had exposed the “evil designs” of the Congress and the Gandhi family.

He demanded that strong punitive action be taken by the President against Sonia and her aides to show her that “such files were to be dealt with only by the PM”.

Talking about Himachal Pradesh, he claimed that people were unhappy with the working style of chief minister Virbhadra Singh and wanted the Congress rule to end at the earliest.
