High drama was witnessed at the railway station's platform number 1 on Friday as ticket checkers had a brawl with an armyman, who was travelling in the Malwa Express.

Both the parties allegedly beat up each other, but the matter was resolved on the intervention of RPF personnel.

Armyman Bhanu, who is deputed at Ladakh, said he boarded the Malwa Express for Delhi. Near Dasuha, the ticket checker came in the compartment and demanded money from him. The checker assaulted him as he denied paying the money.

"When the train reached Ludhiana, the ticket checker called his colleagues. All the checkers manhandled me and took me to the RPF post at the platform," the armyman alleged.

The ticket checker, Chander, has denied the allegation. He said the armyman was travelling in the reserved coach without having an appropriate ticket. He asked him to shift to the general compartment. Instead of shifting the compartment, the armyman assaulted him.
