Punjab Congress president Capt Amarinder Singh on Friday took a dig at the Aam Aadmi Party, saying Delhi chief minister Arvind Kejriwal was “no different” than his Punjab counterpart Parkash Singh Badal “when it comes to greed for money”.
Reacting to the 400% salary hike for Delhi legislators, the Congress leader said Kejriwal had turned the “self-proclaimed common man’s government” into a “plutocracy”.
“Today if anybody can rival the greed of Parkash Singh Badal for money, Kejriwal fits the frame best. The only difference is that Badal does it illegally and Kejriwal has tried to legalise it,” Amarinder said in a press statement.
Calling the hike in Delhi MLAs’ salary “shameless and unprecedented”, Amarinder said such a raise was unheard of in history, “not even in rich countries”.
He said: “No matter how hoarse he may cry about integrity and probity in public life, he (Kejriwal) has actually legalised the loot of public exchequer.
“When the common man, whom Kejriwal claims to represent, cannot make both ends meet, the Delhi legislators will be indulging in the luxury at his cost.”
