ASI booked for raping minor girl

The district police, on Sunday, booked an assistant sub-inspector (ASI), a head constable and one other person for allegedly raping a minor girl. However, no arrest has been made so far.

According to information, the victim girl has complained to the senior superintendent of police (SSP) that head constable Balwinder Singh, ASI Sukhdev Singh and a motor mechanic Rajinder Singh had raped her.

Police officials said, "The victim has recorded her statement to the police that Balwinder Singh took possession of their house illegally two months ago. When she went to the accused for discussing the controversial matter, they raped her."

ASI Sukhdev Singh is appointed at Moga city-south police station and head constable Balwinder Singh is appointed at the highway patrolling office at the moment.

The rape victim was brought to the Dr Mathura Dass Pahwa civil hospital here by a police party, led by ASI Paramjit Kaur, who is also investigating officer in this case. A special team of senior doctors conducted medical examination of the victim.

A case has been registered against ASI Sukhdev Singh, head constable Balwinder Singh and a motor mechanic named Rajinder Singh of Preet Nagar, Moga under Section 376 of Indian Penal Code PC at local city-1 police station.

When contacted, Moga SSP Jatinder Singh Khaira said, "A special investigation team has been formed to examine the entire matter. However, we are still waiting for the medical report of the victim and as soon as we will get the report, further legal action will be taken in this connection without any delay."
