An assistant sub-inspector (ASI) committed suicide by shooting himself with his revolver on Wednesday night at his residence in Mandi Gobindgarh police station.

Sukhwinder Singh was to attend a training course for which he had to undergo a medical test on Thursday.

A police official, who went to his residence on Wednesday night to intimate him about the date of his medical examination, found him dead there.
