The police have booked an assistant sub-inspector (ASI) of Punjab police, his wife and son for allegedly cheating the family of the wife of the son.

ASI, Kuldeep Singh, his wife Madhu Rani and son Gagandeep Singh, residents of the Housing Board colony in Ferozepur, have been booked under sections 420, 406, 498 and 34 IPC on the complaint by Sandeep Kaur, a resident of Chauke village near Bathinda, and wife of the ASI's son.

The complainant alleged that her elder sister Sukhprit Kaur is married in Chanir village in Mansa district and the ASI was posted at the police station in which the village falls.

"The ASI knew my sister, who told her that they were having 15-20 acres of land in their village and his son was a government employee and the family also belonged to an upper caste. He allured my sister in agreeing to marry me to the ASI's son Gagandeep Singh and the marriage was solemnised on July 7, 2014."

"However, after marriage it was found that we were misled by the ASI's family as they belonged to a lower caste, didn't have the land they claimed and their son was also not a government employee," she alleged.

The case in this regard has been registered at the women's police station here and the police were yet to nab any of the accused.
