Surinder Kaur, 52, of Malerkotla was blessed with twin male babies with the help of IVF technique at a city hospital.
Married for 30 years, Surinder had a history of primary infertility with menopause. She had multiple fibroids of the uterus which were removed surgically. After 4 fibroids were removed last year, uterus was saved. Her periods were started with hor monal injections.
Dr Amit Sofat said that because of her age and menopausal status an egg donor was arranged for her. With donated eggs and using her husband’s sperms, an IVF was planned in August 2013. The patient conceived in the very first attempt of IVF.
Surinder Kaur delivered male twins, weighing 2.5 kg and 2.3 kg respectively on the May 19 and mother and kids were doing good.
Dr Amit said that infertility treatment had progressed a lot. Many newer techniques were now available to doctors which helped innumerable couples to conceive.
