AT HPU convocation, Ansari tells students to contribute towards country's development

Vice-president Hamid Ansari on Tuesday said everyone needed to focus on conserving the ecology. He was in Shimla to attend the convocation of Himachal Pradesh University (HPU).

The vice-president, who is on a three-day visit to Shimla, urged the youth to take up responsibility to contribute for the development of the nation.

"We need to work for environmental conservation round the year and if we fail to do so, everything will be finished," Ansari said.

Ansari distributed 137 PhD degrees and conferred 123 gold medals to the students.

Honorary doctorate degrees were also conferred to renowned scientist and former ISRO chief K Radhakrishan, poet Govind Vyas and journalist Vepa Rao.

The RBI governor Raghuram Rajan was also awarded an honorary degree. However, he did not attended the convocation.
