At Khatkar Kalan, Amarinder loyalists call for united Cong

Leaders belonging to the faction led by Amritsar MP and former chief minister Capt Amarinder Singh on Monday called for a united Congress to fight the ruling Shiromani Akali Dal-Bharatiya Janata (SAD-BJP) combine to win the assembly elections in 2017, during a political conference held on the martyrdom day of Bhagat Singh at his ancestral village here.

Kapurthala MLA Rana Gurjit Singh, Dera Baba Nanak MLA Sukhjinder Singh Randhawa, former Punjab Pradesh Congress Committee (PPCC) president and former MP Mohinder Singh Kay Pee, Ludhiana MP Ravneet Singh Bittu, Bhadaur MLA Mohammad Sadiq, former minister Joginder Singh Mann, Nawanshahr MLA Guriqbal Kaur Babli, party’s Doaba in-charge and Banga MLA Tarlochan Sondh, former district Congress president Satvir Singh Palli Jhikki addressed the gathering during the conference.

The leaders also expressed concern over the declining popularity of party.
