ATM uprooted, taken away at Abohar

An automated teller machine (ATM) of the Axis Bank was uprooted and taken away along with Rs 2.80 lakh in it at Abohar, a sub-division of Fazilka district, early morning on Monday.

The ATM was uprooted by four unidentified people, who dragged it after tying it with a sport utility vehicle (SUV).

As per information, four people arrived on the site of the ATM in a populated area on the Abohar-Hanumangarh road where no security guard was deputed by the bank.

After entering the ATM kiosk, they sprayed some black material on the CCTV cameras and fled in the SUV along with the ATM after uprooting it.

The bank authorities said they had kept Rs 19 lakh in it but, being it Sunday yesterdaymos of the cash had been withdrawn by customers. Fazilka SSP Swapan Sharma and other police officials inspected the spot.
