Even a week after murderous attack by the Bolero-borne youths on 20-year-old Shivam Yadav, a BCA student of local DAV college, when he was trying to stop them from molesting a girl of his college, the city police have not been able to trace the accused, despite some of them being active on the social media.

As per an FIR registered on November 9, Dimple Lubana, a resident of Ravidass Nagar, who was named as main accused into this case by the complainant, exchanged Diwali greetings and religious wishes with his friends on Facebook.

Lubana uploaded status of “Happy Diwali” and “Jai Mata Di” on his Facebook profile on November 11. On November 14, he again wished “Jai Mata Di” at his profile page on social networking site.

Interestingly, his friends are also commenting on their status on the Facebook. Victim’s father Hardwari Lal Yadav (46), who is the leader of Vishwa Hindu Parishad (VHP), said that police are under pressure from the local BJP MLA have even released one accused, who was nabbed from his house in Grover Colony. “It is really embarrassing that leaders of the BJP are not helping me despite I being a VHP leader. They are supporting the accused who attacked my son,” heartbroken Yadav told HT, saying he would file a complaint with senior leadership. Yadav said he would meet the police commissioner on Tuesday on the laxity of the police force in arresting the accused.

“Two of the accused, Jaap Singh and Daman met my younger son Rishabh Yadav (16), who studies in Class 10th at the Swami Sant Dass Public School and issued life threats to him,” said Yadav, adding they are forcing us for compromise.

Victim’s father said that he is proud of his son who fought against the offenders and demanded swift action against the culprits.

“I have seen a YAD label on the SUV and most of them were outsiders, not from my college,” victim Shivam Yadav said, adding he is also the head of shakha, the smallest unit of Rashtriya Swayamsewak Sangh (RSS) in the Mithapur locality.

SHO police station-1, inspector Balbir Singh, said that police teams are conducting raids to arrest Dimple and other accused booked in this case, but we have yet to get any clue about them.

Singh showed unawareness about main accused, Dimple being active on Facebook and said he would inquire. “There is not any political pressure on police in arresting the accused,” said the SHO, adding Daman was just a bystander and was not involved in the attack on Shivam.
