On Friday, a bus carrying university students to Amritsar was attacked by a group of youths with sharp-edged weapons and security supervisor Kirpal Singh was injured in the incident.
SSP HS Mann said he would soon meet the university authorities for making elaborate security arrangements. The SSP said the Friday attack was result of a clash that took place on March 21 outside the main gate of Baba Banda Singh Bahadur Engineering College. In the Thursday clash, Maninder Partap of Qadian town of Gurdaspur district and his friend Iqbal Singh of Bhaour village of Sangrur district were hurt.
A case was registered against Jasmeet Singh of Nandpur Kalaur of Bassi Pathana, Harman Tiwana and others under sections 323, 324, 342, 148, 149 of the IPC same day. TO take a revenge, Maninder and his friends assembled in front of the university campus early morning on Friday and attacked Jasmeet and his accomplices, when they were boarding the university bus to Amritsar. The SSP said Maninder and others have been booked under sections 323, 341, 307, 148, 149 of the IPC.
