A petrol-filling station attendant was murdered at work on Thursday night at a village in Abohar subdivision of Fazilka district.
Hari Singh of Rajpura village near Abohar had rejoined the job at Sawarn Petrol Pump a fortnight ago after two years of working as truck driver. His brother-in-law, Sukhmander Singh, a co-worker, was asleep at the station when a noise outside woke him up. He spotted two men fleeing the station after injuring Hari Singh. The attendant died, later, in hospital.
Amar Singh, senior superintendent of police at Fazilka, and Varinder Singh Brar, superintendent of police at Abohar, visited the scene of crime, and then the police recovered the murder weapon, a farm axe, from a field nearby with the help of sniffer dogs.
The police registered a case of murder.
