An awareness camp regarding swine flu and mother-child healthcare was organised at Kila Raipur subsidiary health centre under the supervision of Dr Preet Kanwar Singh on Tuesday.
In the awareness camp, villagers were told about the preventive measures of swine flu.
Dr Singh said, “H1N1 virus causes swine flu. It is necessary that a person having symptoms of swine flu like high fever, cough, etc., should not come in direct contact to other people. Being a contagious disease, it spreads from people to people, thus patients of swine flu need to be kept isolated.”
Educating about the preventive measures, Dr Singh said, “It is necessary to wash hands frequently to avoid the virus. Besides, a person should cough or sneeze while covering the face only and should consult a doctor at the earliest, if someone notice any symptoms of swine flu.”
He informed that tests and treatment of swine flu are done totally free of cost at all government hospitals.
Women health visitor Parminder Kaur inspired the pregnant women to get regular check-ups and proper vaccination of infants done. The mothers were told about benefits of breast feeding.
