Students of Saint Sahara Ayurvedic College & Hospital, Kotshamir here, have threatened to protest and hold a dharna against the failure of the college management to secure the required affiliation to run the college from the appropriate authorities.

The college is running the Bachelor of Ayurvedic Medicine and Surgery (BAMS) course sans the required affiliation from the university and students are worried about their future.

The students submitted a memorandum to the deputy commissioner on Wednesday and threatened to go on a protest from Monday.

In the memorandum to the DC, students claimed that the 2011-12 batch students of Bachelor of Ayurvedic Medicine and Surgery (BAMS) did not get any registration cards from Guru Ravidas University, Hoshiarpur, about their admissions in the college as it had no affiliation.

“We were kept in dark about the affiliation of the college during our admission in 2011. Now, we have come to know that the college has no affiliation to run the course as its management is not ready to spend money to provide facilities at the college to get affiliation from university,” reads the memorandum, singed by a number of students.

It read, “Exams had been conducted butwWe were not given the DMCs and registration cards.”

“Authorities are not paying any attention to our problem,” said the students.

However, Dr P N Shirivastva said, ”There were some issues over which were being resolved. We will soon get the copy of the inspection report from the Central Council of Indian Medicine (CCIM) and submit it with Guru Ravidas University for further action.”
