Deputy commissioner Ravi Bhagat and senior superintendent of police Gurinder Singh Dhillon on Monday said Baba Farid Agman Purb, Faridkot, will start from September 19. The five-day mela will conclude on the night of September 23 with a cultural programme by singers Miss Pooja and Roshan Prince.
"The mela will start with the 'path' of Sukhmani Sahib and ardas at 6 am on September 19 at Gurdwara Chilla Baba Farid. There will be many other events the same day, including a heritage exhibition with special focus on teaching children about our culture and heritage," said Faridkot DC Ravi Bhagat.
All India Gold cup hockey tournament, football and handball tournaments would be inaugurated the same day. On September 20, a play 'Bulla' by Madiha Gauhar, a noted Pakistani artiste, would be enacted, the DC added.
September 22 will be a crowd puller because various kinds of exhibitions, rural games and cultural programmes besides performance by Punjabi singer Harjeet Harman will be organised. "The mela would conclude with a very important religious procession from Gurdwara Chilla Baba Farid to Gurdwara Godri Sahib," the deputy commissioner said. It would be a fine combination of religious, cultural and sports programmes, he added.
