After bad weather conditions, including thick fog, grounded chopper flights in Jammu and Kashmir, former chief minister Prem Kumar Dhumal addressed an election rally held in Basohli constituency in the poll-bound neighboring state over phone.

In the last leg of electioneering, Dhumal was to address the rally in favour of party candidate Choudhary Lal Singh who recently crossed over from Congress and is contesting on BJP ticket.

Dhumal was to fly in a chopper that was to come from Jammu. Sources told HT that the chopper couldn't take off from Jammu. The former Himachal chief minister kept on waiting for three hours at Kangra airport.

"Dhumal's programme was cancelled as the chopper couldn't take off from Jammu and he addressed the rally over phone," said former Kangra MLA Sanjay Chaudhary who was to accompany the former CM.

Several BJP leaders from Himachal are camping in the neighboring state for electioneering. Former state minister Kishan Kapoor was also in J&K for election campaign a few days ago.
