Badals felicitate Barack Obama

Punjab chief minister Parkash Singh Badal and deputy CM Sukhbir Singh Badal on Wednesday felicitated Barack Obama on winning a second term to the US presidency.

In a message here, Badal expressed the hope that the world would be better place to live in the next four years.

He said that Indians in general and the Punjabis in particular held Obama in high esteem for his outstanding and sympathetic role during the Wisconsin incident.

In a separate message, Deputy Chief Minister Sukhbir Singh Badal, who is currently touring Pakistan, also congratulated Mr Obama on his re-election as US president.

In his message, he said: "The world looks at the US president as a symbol of hope. Your bold and path-breaking leadership and your new ideas and approach are a source of inspiration to others trying to bring about a change for the better in their society."

A report from Amritsar said that Shiromani Gurdwara Parbandhak Committee (SGPC) chief Avtar Singh Makkar also congratulated Obama on winning a second term to the US presidency.
