The Bajrang Dal, on Monday, demanded a ban on the exhibition of Sunny Deol-starred movie 'Mohalla Assi', alleging that the film hurts religious sentiments of the Hindus. Dal convener Neelmani Samadhiya alleged that in the movie, Hindu deity Lord Shiva has been depicted in an incredulous manner.
Samadhiya said, “From the trailer, it is clear that the movie has intentionally tried to tarnish the image of gods by showing foulmouthed scenes. A ‘bahurupiya’ (imposter) has been shown as hurling expletives.” Activists also submitted a memorandum to the deputy commissioner and senior superintendent of police here demanding a ban on the movie.
Earlier, on Sunday, president of the Kanwar Sangh, Punjab, Tarlochan Bansal, got registered an FIR against actor Sunny Deol, movie director Chandra Prakash Dwivedi, producer Vinay Tiwari and others on the same matter.
Investigating officer, Paramjit Singh said, “The FIR has been registered under section 295-A (injuring or defiling place of worship with intent to insult the religious sentiments of any class) of Indian Penal Code. Our investigations are on. As per the complaint lodged with us, the place of occurrence is Mumbai. After preliminary investigation, we shall forward it to the Mumbai police if need be.”
