Punjab Pradesh Congress Committee president Partap Singh Bajwa appointee Faridkot Congress president Joginder Singh has expelled three local Congress leaders for anti-party activities.
The move by Singh, also the Jaitu MLA, has come a day after former Kotkapura MLA Ripjit Singh Brar had written a strongly-worded letter to Bajwa, criticising him for nepotism and favoritism in the preparation of the PPCC office bearers' list. The expulsion is being seen as a warning for dissenters and in support of Bajwa, said sources.
Kushaldeep Singh Dhillon, who was retained as state Congress general secretary, is also reported to have lent his weight to the dismissals.
"We have expelled Dr. Jagir Singh, district president of Congress Sewa Dal from Faridkot, Sukhmander Singh, the block president of Sadiq circle, from Sher Singh Wala village, and Ginderjeet Singh Sekhon, block president of Kotkapura rural for their anti-party activities," said Singh.
"The decision has been taken on the instructions of the state Congress chief Bajwa and new appointments will be made soon," he added.
He claimed that these leaders would have joined the SAD soon.
"The district congress is united and we are working together to strengthen the party," claimed Dhillon.
Bathinda/Mansa: Bathinda Congress president (rural) Narinder Singh Bhulleria and former Congress MLA Makhan Singh have resigned from their posts as executive committee members in the district
Gurpreet Kaur Dhaliwal and her husband Jagsir Singh Pappu Gagowal, chosen as secretaries in Mansa, have also resigned.
"We have decided to resign from our post as executive members as people who have worked against the party are also part of the new list," said Bhulleria.
