Punjab Congress president Partap Singh Bajwa has strongly condemned the hurling of a shoe at chief minister Parkash Singh Badal at a political conference at Issru. He said it was totally against the culture of this land of Gurus, sages and seers.

"This is an incident which should be condemned by all as it is not part of political culture of this state," he added. However, at the same time, he claimed that this incident could not be taken in isolation as it manifested the latent anger of the people against this government which had been selling dreams, but failed to come up to its own promises.

"You can befool some people for some time, but cannot mislead them all the time. This is the result of frustration against the functioning of Badal's government and sooner he realised it, better it would be. The anger simmering below the otherwise calm surface could take the shape of a volcano anytime and that would be tragic", he said.

The PPCC chief said what was the worst under this regime was that even democratic protests by various sections of people were being suppressed through barbaric methods by the police.
