A day after Punjab Congress chief Partap Singh Bajwa demanded registration of a criminal case against Revenue Minister Bikram Singh Majithia for his alleged links with international drug racketeer Jagdish Bhola, Youth Akali Dali (YAD) senior vice president Surinderpal Singh Goldy said that Bajwa's demand has given a boost to criminals.
Talking to media persons here on Tuesday, Goldy said, "After the internal bickering within the Congress has come to the fore, Bajwa is making such statements to divert the attention of the media and the people of Punjab".
"I want to ask Bajwa ji, If Bhola names Prime Minister, will he demand FIR against the PM too", he added.
Replying to a question about Congress demand for a CBI probe into the multi-crore drug racket in Punjab, he said that there is no need for such a probe in this case as Punjab police was capable enough to investigate the matter. The Punjab police was already doing appreciable work, he said.
"The track record of the CBI shows that it is working for the Congress and it has already lost its credibility after coal scam and other corruption scandals at the Centre, I don't think that we can expect a fair probe from the CBI", he added.
When asked about the Punjab and Haryana High Court's notice to the state government for CBI probe into Bhola's disclosures, he said the Congress leaders are moving court for political mileage.
Replying to a question about the alleged phone calls between Bhola and Majithia, he said, "Majithia is a senior leader and thousands of people contact him daily. But he cannot keep record of activities of every individual calling on him"
