Punjab Congress chief Partap Singh Bajwa on Wednesday visited the family of HT principal correspondent Jasdeep Singh Malhotra, who was killed in a road accident on September 22, to pay condolences.

Bajwa called Malhotra a courageous journalist who always stood for brave journalism. "Malhotra had a positive approach towards investigative journalism and did commending work in the fields of road safety, environment protection and social causes," Bajwa said.
Bajwa, who was accompanied by All-India Congress Committee (AICC) member Tejinder Singh Bittu, senior Congress leaders Jaivir Shergil, local councillors Major Singh and Bobby Sehgal, handed over a draft of `2.5 lakh to the family as a gesture of tribute to Malhotra.
Bajwa said he would talk to Himachal Pradesh chief minister Virbhadra Singh to constitute a Special Investigation Team (SIT) to probe the cause of the accident in which Malhotra was killed. Meanwhile, former chief minister Rajinder Kaur Bhattal also visited Malhotra's house to pay condolences.
