Though the SAD-BJP alliance is claiming themselves as biggest sympathizer of farmers but even after passing of one year, the government had not paid Rs.100 crore of the last year sugarcane crop to the farmers of the state, said Congress MLA from Qadian, Tript Rajinder Singh Bajwa.

Talking to media persons, Bajwa told that though the various Cooperative Sugar Mills of state had purchased sugarcane from the farmer but till date more than Rs.100 was outstanding towards them and the farmer were forced to get loans from the banks for sowing their next year crop.

He told that the outstanding of the Batala Cooperative Sugar Mill was more than Rs.10 crore and if the state government did not make the payment to the farmers by June 10, he along with farmers will gave a dharna outside the sugar mill.

In view of the drastic changes happened in agriculture sector particularly in the field of farm inputs particularly astronomical increase in fuel prices & labour cost, prices of insecticides, pesticides, seeds costs etc, the decision of the state government to increase the MSP of Sugercane by Rs.40 was highly condemnable, he added.
