The central committee of All India Andhra Bank Award Employees Union on Friday held a protest at the zonal office on Chandigarh Road.

The employees were protesting against the management's "apathetic and indifferent attitude in resolving their pending issues" and not filling the permanent vacancies of sweepers, sub-staff, security guards and clerks.

The employees demanded implementation of the scheme and hike in wages of part-time sweepers to as per earlier agreement.

They reiterated their demand for engaging casual and temporary staff.

They accused bank branches of denying employment to the marginalised sections of the society and also exploiting casual/temporary staff by not paying statutory wages besides depriving them of permanent employment status.

They said protests were held at all zonal offices in the respective zones by the sweepers along with committee members and a memorandum was submitted through the zonal manager urging him of early redressal of the issues.

They urged the authorities to intervene and advise to resolve their demands.
