Thieves have broken into locked offices of the tehsil complex here and stolen R 1.24 lakh cash, four computer monitors and one CCTV camera. This despite four security personnel manning the adjoining District Treasury Office round the clock, and two chowkidars of the District Administrative Complex (DAC).

Tehsildar Paramjit Singh Sahota said, "The CCTV cameras were working on Sunday night. We had called technical experts, who have told us that cameras are not night-vision. Thieves destroyed three cameras before leaving"

He suspected the involvement of someone from the office.

However, Police sub inspector Vipan Kumar has said, "Though the CCTVs are connected with the Deputy Commissioner office, but these are switched off after office hours daily. So there is no CCTV footage."

The main gate of the complex remains open during night.
