Condemning the SAD-BJP government, senior Congress leader Harminder Singh Jassi has accused the chief minister and deputy chief minister of being indifferent to people.

Addressing a gathering here on Saturday, Jassi claimed that the situation in the state was akin to that in an emergency. He said, "On the one hand, the employees are awaiting salaries, and various pension schemes and scholarships have been halted, while on the other hand, the state government is spending lavishly on itself. The situation is like an emergency prevailing in the state."

Jassi claimed that the collapsed sewerage system and roads in Bathinda belied the promises made by the chief minister and deputy chief minister.

Jassi alleged, "The government is befooling and looting the public. The health facilities are deteriorating in the state. According to data, the health budget has reduced from 12% to 4%, the number of hospitals have reduced from 144 to 67 while the dispensaries have reduced from 196 to 139. The shortage of staff and facilities in hospitals point to the deterioration in the health sector."
