Bathinda Cycling Group to organise Cyclothon-2015 on Sunday

The Bathinda Cycling Group (BCG) is going to organise its 100th cycle rally on Sunday on a larger scale.

The Bathinda Cycling Group (BCG) is going to organise its 100th cycle rally on Sunday on a larger scale.

President of BCG Amrit Sethi said at a press conference here on Thursday that the group has been arranging a 20-25 km rally every Saturday for the last 100 weeks but o On this upcoming Sunday, the group has decided to celebrate their 100th cycle rally on a larger scale as Bathinda Cyclothon-2015.

As many as 10 prominent doctors including eye specialist Amrit Sethi, urologist GS Nagpal, child specialist Raj Kumar, gynaecologist GS Rajpal, psychiatrists Satish Verma and Purav Midda and others have launched an awareness campaign with the slogan of 'Let's Make Cycling a Status Symbol'.

GS Nagpal, urologist and physician, said that as many as 1,000 people, including officials and others, would participate in this cyclothon. He further said that the registrations will be started at 6 am and the rally will start at 6.45 am.

Secretary of BCG Preetmohinder Singh Brar said the rally would start from the Sports Stadium, and pass through the Mall Road, Dhobi Bazar, hospital bazar, Amrik Singh Road, Mittal City Mall and Bathinda-Goniana road. It will end at the Delhi heart institute and multi-specialty hospital on the Goniana road.

Brar said that on the end of cyclothon, postmen and newspaper hawkers of the city will be honoured by the group for using cycles in their profession. Brar said that Olympian Avneet Kaur Sidhu with her husband Olympian Rajpal Singh will also attend the rally. Renowned cyclist from Jaipur, Chirag Jindal, will also come to participate in the 'Cyclothon-2015'.
