The district police have booked two people for the alleged murder of Amarjeet Kaur, a resident of Bathinda road here.

Amarjeet Kaur, around 45, was married about 22 years ago to Ravinder Singh, a resident of Alagaon Kothi in Tarn Taran district. But, she had been living in Muktsar for about 15 years due to strained relations with her husband. The woman had, however, allegedly developed illicit relations with another man Gurmeet Singh from Muktsar.

"Both Ravinder and Gurmeet, whose relations with the woman had also soured, conspired to remove Amarjeet Kaur from their way and joined hands to kill her," claimed a source.

"The police have booked her husband Ravinder Singh and Gurmeet Singh under sections 302 and 120-B of the IPC on the complaint of her father Joginder Singh. However, the investigation is on in the case," said Gurinderjeet Singh Sandhu, station house officer, city police station, Muktsar.
