On the day of the crime, the minor had come back from school and gone upstairs into her room above her father's shopmy shop. The FIR suggests that the suspect, a middle-aged man, followed her upstairs and tried to molest her. She raised an alarm and the man had to flee.

The police have failed to arrest the suspect even as he continues to threaten to kidnap the girl or implicate her father in a false case. Even after insturctions from the senior superintendet of police 10 days ago, the suspect is on the run. The station house officer (SHO) concerned, Gursher Singh Brar said the hunt was on. Senior superintendent of police Gurpreet Singh Toor has assured that no culprit would be spared.
