State Congress president Captain Amarinder Singh on Saturday thanked and congratulated the people of the local assembly constituency for making a fair and peaceful election possible and coming out to vote in the inclement weather.

In a statement issued here, Amarinder said it was a matter of immense satisfaction that the polling had gone off peacefully and the voting percentage was more than 70. He also congratulated the election and security personnel and praised them for foiling "attempts by the Akali leaders to influence polling".

He also gave credit to the party workers and leaders who had come from across Punjab to campaign in Moga. "Your contribution will ensure a comfortable victory of the Congress candidate," he told them.
