The two students of BDS course at Genesis Institute of Dental Sciences and Research (GIDSR) here had drowned when the duo, along with three other classmates, had gone to enjoy ‘partying’ at a canal and no one was responsible for the tragic incident.

This was disclosed by Ashish, Ankit and Nitish, the three companions of Sunil and Amardeep, who had drowned in the canal, in a statement given to the local administration.

“On Monday at 1600 hours, we went out of the college on an outing and reached the Malwal road in a car and procured two bottles of beer besides one of alcohol.

After consuming the same at about 1800 hours, we reached the college gate. But, instead of going inside the college, Sunil and Amardeep asked us to go and enjoy at a canal on the Ferozepur-Moga road.”

“We bought more liquor, sat at the stairs of the canal and, while drinking, Sunil lied down with head towards the water. We asked him not to but when we got back to the car, he jumped into the canal.

Amardeep, who knew swimming, tried to save him but lost grip and Sunil was swept away. Then Amardeep also disappeared in the water,” said a student.
