The new highway will connect the Ferozepur and Amritsar roads in Moga, and will cost Rs. 5.91 crore. The 5.64-kilometre road will reduced the distance to Amritsar, Jalandhar, and Ferozepur by about 7 kilometres each and ease the traffic congestion in the city.

During the public-contact programmes at Duneke, Bukkanwala, Mothanwali, Safuwala, Ghal Kalan, Rattian, Saleena, Kot Bhau and Khosa Pando village, the CM gave away Rs. 2.05 crore in official grant for development works.

Centre not helping store grain: CM

Badal took the opportunity to charge the union government with holding back the development of requisite infrastructure in the state for smooth procurement of food grains. During the public meeting at Bukkanwala, the CM said the Centre was duty bound to ensure proper storage, movement and lifting of food grains.

The CM said he had made the Centre aware of the paucity of storage facilities in the state but no solution had emerged. “The permission for constructing new silos in the state on scientific lines is delayed,” he said. “We don't even have the timely supply of gunny bags for packing wheat in spite of advance requisition.”

Parliamentarian Paramjeet Kaur Gulshan; revenue minister Bikramjit Singh Majithia; former agriculture minister Tota Singh; local legislator Joginder Pal Jain; former director general of police PS Gill, party leader Jagroop Singh Takhtupura; CM's special principal secretary KJS Cheema; and deputy commissioner Arshdeep Singh Thind were present.
