As part of the state's fight against cancer and the drug abuse, deputy commissioner Amit Dhaka on Thursday flagged off a schoolchildren's rally focussed on the campaign.
The march began from SDKL DAV Senior Secondary School here in the presence of principal SS Thakur. The DC made students aware of the government's crusade against cancer and asked students to tell people to report for early detection.
The district health authorities had proposed to start cancer survey patients from December 1. Of the three health blocks in the district, Khyala was covered under a pilot project in its 72 villages.
Principal SS Thakur said his school was glad to be part of the initiative to combat cancer outbreak in the Malwa region of Punjab. The procession covered the entire city.
